Something we wanted to explore in "Entre Colmillos" was to bring to life the not so human looking vampires into film. Now, we could've gone the route of putting prosthetics on an actor or elaborate a CG character, but frankly, the first option wouldn't pay the proper respects to the original depictions and characteristics of these iconic characters and the other option wasn't in our budget. So, we went with puppets. Did I had puppet making experience? Not one bit. But, there is no greater teacher/motivator than a deadline.

As spooky as it may have seemed in the beginning, it turned into the most relaxing, creative, and endearing creative process I have gone through up to that time. And looking back, I'm eternally grateful for all the many sleepless nights and long hours I used to dedicate to making maquettes for my architecture classes and the many LEGO sets I built. They truly came in handy when it came time to think on my feet and elaborate a plan of attack for making these characters.

And with the help of my Grandma, these characters wouldn't have come to life. She truly is a master of her craft and even though I'm extremely exigent and was constantly going back and forth with a certain decision that was made or wanted to rework something because it wasn't clicking the way I wanted to, she was determined and took on the challenge of making the skin of these characters head on. And for that, I'm eternally grateful and proud to be her grandson.
